How a message finds the right bot

How a message finds the right bot

  1. Channel → member. The number or address the message arrived on belongs to one member (a business).
  2. Identity → contact. The sender's number or email is normalised and looked up in that member's directory. No match means unknown.
  3. Reach. The contact's roles and overrides say which bots it may talk to. Unknown reaches nothing.
  4. Candidates. Bots allowed to receive on that channel, cut down to the reach.
  5. Pick. The channel's default bot if it is a candidate, else the highest-priority one. None means the unknown flow: no reply, an event, and the owner is told.

The text of the message never changes steps 1–5. Asking for the CEO does not reach the CEO bot.
